Hi all,

There is a service note about MCGV failing the gradient test G711X/G5654 Pumps-008A.

We know that some MCGV below serial number 1200000 can fail the gradient test, but it doesn't mean that automatically the MCGV must be replaced with a new one with SN above 1200000. Please run the qualification with the old MCGV and follow the procedure in the attachment of the service note. If after 2 or 3 attempts the old MCGV is not passing the gradient test, it can be replaced with a new one.

All the logistic centers only store the new type of MCGV with SN 12xxxxx, so if you order a new MCGV, you should only receive the latest version.
Many customer's have the need to collect data directly to a network drive. Collecting data to a network drive is usually not a good idea if any issues arise with the
network hardware or software the raw data can be lost. The preferred way is to complete this task is to collect the data on the local file system and then copy to the network location after the run completes.

To setup post run file copy you can use a macro called "nas_copy.mac" to copy the file from the local drive to network driver AFTER the data is collected.

"nas_copy.mac" is a CONTRIBUTED UTILITY to be used for the purpose
of exporting data files (and associated directory structure) acquired on
Agilent MassHunter GCMS Acquisition platforms to networked or secondary drives.

The remote file system MUST have directories created for the file transfer before
the configuration process will allow destination selection. The directories MUST
be named with a .NET extent (i.e. msd1.net, gcfid3.net, etc.). Once the destination
!directories have been created, use the ConfigCopy macro to select them for use
with the instrument. From the command line in MH GCMS Acquisition, type the following:

macro "NAS_Copy.mac" <enter>
ConfigCopy <enter>

Follow the prompts on the screen to select the destination for data files. This
will allow multiple instruments to share the same drive and store the data in
individual directories. The configuration information is stored in the file
nas_copy.ini, located in the instrument folder (i.e. masshunter\gcms\x where x=instrument number).
This allows multiple instruments on the same PC to send data to unique locations.

To automate the file transfer, edit your MH GCMS Acquisition Method and add the following
command in the Method Information Post-Run Macro/Command field:

NAS_Copy
Oct 2017: Ion Source Temperature in NCI mode for SQ, QQQ and QTOF

Issue: Turning on the filament will affect the Ion Source temperature.

If acquiring with the default IS temperature of 150°C in NCI mode by the end of the run the IS will be increased.
This might be up to 20°C higher so for the next run there will be a lay waiting to get the IS back to 150°C again.

Workaround, run the IS at 160°C and the Quad at 106°C instead.

Below are the test results running at different temperatures:

Dec. 2017              Part number of sapphire piston for 1290 pumps

We had several cases reported shorten life time issue of 1290 pump heads while MeOH (Methanol) with acid (regardless which type of acid) in use. Due to more often customer use ACN (Acetonitrile) as organic solvent in reverse phase analysis and pure MeOH doesn't show any shorten life time issue, so root cause remaining unknown for us.

The symptom is ZrO2 piston showing scratch in short period of time by using MeOH with acid as mobile phase. Same application using in conventional LC which equipped with sapphire piston has no such issue.

Anyway, we do have sapphire plunger for 1290 pump, part number is 5067-6174 1ea.

This P/N could be use in 1290 Classic and EM (Easy Maintenance) pump head but not LL (Long Life) pump head.

FYI.
Jan 2018

FSE reporting that new G7102A ELSD is use LSU as response unit which is different with old G426X A/B are use mV as response unit.

Here is the reply from SU.

There's only G7102A HDR (High Dynamic Range) use LSU but not for G426X A/B. The G426X A/B will always have the mV and the G7102As will always have the LSU. Both units are not convertible.

Up to a value of ~ 300 LSU both the G7102 and G426X A/B are the same …. Basically 1mV = 1 LSU up to 300 ….

What’s the orderable part number for the 1260 G1312B SSV?

The update kit G1381-6000 seems to be obsoleted.

PSE Tobias informed that

The pure SSV has the part number G1312-60068 for G1312B and 5067-5895 for G7112B.

Problem:

The methane flow adjument fails and autotune can not be started.

Cause:
Before the CI autotune is performed, the system will optimize the flow of methane into the source to adjust the pressure to the optimum level.

The system is looking for a target ration of m/z 28 and m/z 27.

Mass 27 = C2H3+
Mass 28 = C2H4+

(See below for complete list of reactions that occur with methane in the source).

The ratio of the intensity of Mass 28 / Mass 27 is used to adjust the correct pressure in the trap. Default target values are 2.2 - 2.3

Solution:

If the system can not reach a target of 2.2-2.3 more then likely there is a leak somewhere.

The usual culprit is the seal between the transfer line and the ion source.  Below is more detailed list of possible problems.

  1. Seal between the transfer line and the ion source.  make sure the Tip seal and spring are correctly installed.
  2. Corrupt tune file - reload a default pcich4.u tune from the mssetup directory.  Go to manual tune and manually change all quad parameters you have a working EI tune for.
  3. No reagent gas flow:  check the monitor
  4. Wrong reagent gas
  5. Wrong ION Source or mis-assembled ion source.
  6. Sideboard connectors, not connected.
  7. Go back to EI an make sure EI tune acceptable
  8. Make sure EI air/water values are OK

Introduction:
In order to downgrade a 5977 from HES to Extractor ion source it is basically needed to replace the Source, the Source Radiator and the Ceramic Board.

Procedure:
The needed parts are:

G7000-60827 Wire, Extractor Lens
G7000-67625 Source PCA/Cable Assy GC/MS QQQ Ext
G7002-67037 Source Radiator Assy - Packaged
G3870-67720  Extraction Source Assy,  (with short entrance lens)

The extractor ion source has the short or standard entrance lens installed.
So do not mix with the Estractor Source for a 7000 unit, it would be the
G7003-67720 with long entrance lens.
PN for the LVPS for the 2475 is 700001641 and is the same for both the platinum and blue versions of the detector.
There are three different PN for the QSM degasser chambers and they are as follows:

MV-W-700005172: Single degasser chamber (standard) -- THIS HAS BEEN OBSOLETED AND REPLACED WITH MV-W-700011667
MV-W-700002602: complete degasser assembly
MV-W-700011667: stented degasser chamber used for GPC/normal phase solvents; this is also the degasser chamber used on the QSM PLUS

cooling is not available with G1364E collector.

Q: Abnormal DC voltage from power supply of G1315C caused communication failure with PC.
A:  Recently, we got one case, saying that G1315C can not talk to Chemstation or Labadvisor. The communication can not be established even by Ping 192.168.254.11. Normally, FSE would think it is the problem of the detector mainboard. However, in this case, the communication still did not succeed after replacing with a new mainboard. Later, the DC voltage supplied by module's power supply were checked. Among various DC values provided by power supply, the 24VDC is suspicious, the real measured one is merely 21.3V. Then, we changed a new power supply and brought the 24V to 23.6V. As a result, the communication was restored.
So, when coming with communication problem, we should not only doubt on mainboard, but also power supply. Below is the correct reference voltage values for G1315C

RF Power supply troubleshooting:

Test RF Power supply to 150V from diagnostics (remember first click gives 50V and then another click gives 150V).
If NO voltage is observed then isolate the RF power supply and SSRF following next steps:
1.Ensure RF power supply is off
2.Disconnect RF power cable from Filter board. (2 pin Red/Grey wires connector, lower connector on the RF filter board on the rear, this is the RFPS feed up to the SSRF)
3.Ensure interlocks are satisfied (RF door closed)
4.Set 50V and 150V RF power supply (click twice to get to 150V) on Diagnostics > Instrument > Plasma section
a. Can you hear the relay click in the MPM?
b. can you see the RFPS power on and the fans start to rotate?
If this happens look at the voltage on the diagnostics, it should be approx. 50v on the left side and ( with the cable disconnected) approx. 0v on the right side.
If not voltages reported then RFPS or MPM are faulty, or there is an interlock problem, or connection for the RFPS is faulty.
Recommended parts:
Assy RF Power Supply G8010-87301
RF power supply connector cable assy G8010-60801

SSRF Troubleshooting:

If RF power supply voltages are ok then this indicates that the RF power supply is able to generate the voltage but is being loaded by something in the RF Box, in this case:
1. Switch off the RFPS, refit the RF power cable to the Filter board.
2. Remove SSRF cover and disconnect electrical cable, close door and enable 150V.  if Reported and Measured voltages are OK then the RF power supply is loading the and SSRF is faulty.
3. If measured voltage is not OK with the SSRF disconnected then Filter board or SSRF control board are faulty.
Recommended parts:

Q: How to check which fan is in error state for LC 1120/1220?
A: For “Fan errors” in 1220/1120, it is always confusing. When a sub-module got problems in the system, you will receive “fan errors” for all sub-modules, even for example the oven does not have a fan. But there are some clues which is indicated by error code. In you case, if you saw error code “68, 1”, then it refers to the fan in VWD module. If you saw “68.0”, then the bad guy should be the fan in pump module.

Q: What is the difference between power switch board 5067-6140 and 5067-5712?
A: 5067-6140 is the power switch board with coating, this is especially used for G7129X and G7167X with cooler. If cooler is used, there might be a risk of condensation water flowing to the location where the power switch situated. The coating of the board prevents short circuit of the board or other electronic components.
5067-5712 is still used for other infinity II modules like pump and detector.

Hello,

There are currently 3 options available for the customers. Below there is a clear comparison of the features for each platform. As you can see the OpenLab CDS is the most complete option and the only limitation is that it doesn´t support multi detection. Viscometer and Light Scatering=LS (please do not confuse it with Evaporative Light Scatering or ELSD) are not supported in OpenLab CDS.

Hi Annelies:
This is a known issue. G1364-84545 is the new type tray only used for 1260 Inifinity II FRC. G1364-84525 is the old tray, which can be used for old and new FRC.
The new tray has different RFID coding, hence it is not supported by old 1100/1200/1260 FRC. Below is the table listing supported trays for different FRC

Yes, 7100 lift tower(G7100-67009) is available for 1600.

NO NEED TO MIGRATE

After dicussions with product support this set up is untested and therefore unsupported.

Although the lift tower will physically fit problems in future may occur.
besides, the G1600A is obsolete and out of support.

From LA (FSE license) you can use the command line for the IP from Instrument Control.
Here you enter SER "DE12345678", click on SEND and check for (green) confirmation on the top.
Disconnect and do a physical reboot, so disconnect and reconnect the IP.
Now the new serial number should be shown in ‘detail screen.

No, G7112B could not execute the Solvent Compressibility Calibration.

This is the comment from the prodcut manager Jens, Hühner.

My name is Jens and I am the backup product manager for the Lab Advisor. I checked your issue with the Solvent Compressibility Calibration.
This  calibration was only implemented in the firmware for the G1312B Module (the old 1260 Infinity I Bin Pump).
Therefore, the calibration is also only available in Lab Advisor for this specific module.
I think it is a mistake that the calibration, as a feature, is included in the manual for the new 1260 Infinity II Bin Pump (G7112B).
The Solvent Compressibility Calibration is definitely not implemented in the firmware for the 1260 Infinity II Bin Pump (G7112B)
and therefore also not available in Lab Advisor. Unfortunately this is no bug in the Lab Advisor.

Agilent does not offer a re-certification service for the Starna kits or other UV/Vis OQ standards and filter. These kits are managed locally.

The options are to either send the kits directly to the manufacturer for re certification or replace the kit with a new one.

Please consult with your district manager or Agilent liaison to determine  the local procedure.

Hello Kicki,

I have an update code for QTOF CI mode.
Please try to this code.

Here is an update PY code for the QTOF, the attached file gets copied to the C:\GCMS\msexe folder.

As a reminder, the issue is that with anything except a brand-new filament the emission is getting set to low when it is adjusted after the gain step in autotune.  The starting point for the emission adjustment is 2uA.  With a filament that has been used, even for just a few tunes or method runs, ions aren’t seen until the current reaches around 6uA.

The was the code that I was looking at and I have seen better PCI and NCI tunes, if you can give it a try please.

Jan 2018 MassHunter and position of Multi Postion Valve - MPV

To control the MPV from MassHunter acquisition you need to use a command to set the position.

Like: gcdirectget (“gc.mpv.5”,1)  - this will send the MPV to position #5.

Attached are some examples for the different valve positions.
Simply add them as a preprun macro.

Hope this helps.

Very best regards,

Q: What is working principle of G7111X integrated degasser?
A:

Two types of error form integrated degasser about reaching and maintaining the vacuum can be generated.

Error ID 8053 vacuum limit not reached;

Error ID 8014 vacuum cannot be maintained;

8053 is generated after pump start-up when the vacuum does not reach to the target default value 100mBar (+/-20mBar) within 8 min as a default timeout.

8014 is generated during continuous operation if the vacuum drops higher than 80mbar than target value – 100mbar as default.

The error 8053 can be caused by excessive solvent vapor concentration in vacuum chamber after long period of pump idle condition.

Evacuation mode initiated through the LabAdvisor can quickly help to resolve the situation in this case.

Introduction:
There have been some cases where new 7820A GC Logic Boards were shipped with a "blank" IP Address (i.e. 0.0.0.0), thus making not possible to connect to the GC and/or use the Remote Control Panel and set a valid IP Address.

Procedure:
Follow these steps to reset the IP Address to the default factory value:

1) Turn off the system;
2) Press and hold the [Prep Run] button on the GC front panel;
3) While holding the [Prep Run] button pressed, turn on the system, and wait for the initialization cycle to complete (until the "Agilent Technologies" logo appears on the display);
4) Release the [Prep Run] button;

The IP Address should have been now reset to default value. If needed, it is now possible to use the Remote Control Panel to connect to the system and change the IP Address to a different one.

Hi All,
I have attached a document "Ion Gauge Basic Principles of Operation", I have used information from the manufactures and ICP-MS service manual.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Glenn.

There is an issue when loading previous Verification and Diagnostics (V&D), Wavelength Accuracy reports.

B.05.02 behaviour: only the most recent results can be loaded.
Why?
UV-Vis Chemstation automatically saves a .VD and .VSD file for each result. The .VD file does not have a unique name, so each time a new V&D result is collected, the previous .VD file is overwritten. Since UV-Vis Chemstation can only load .VD files, only the most recent report can be opened.

B.05.04 behaviour: previous V&D results can be loaded, but the loaded report may display incorrect information.
Why?
UV-Vis Chemstation automatically saves a .VD and .VSD file for each result. The .VSD file does not have a unique name, so each time a new V&D result is collected, the previous .VSD file is overwritten. The .VSD file contains spectra, so the following error will appear:

UV-Vis Chemstation will display a report, but the report will contain incorrect or missing information. For example:

  • Spectra will not be displayed
  • Wavelength Reproducibility will not be displayed
  • Wavelength Accuracy table headers display "Found WL" instead of "Average WL"
  • Deviation values are inverted. For example, 0.10 will become -0.10.
  • Wavelength Accuracy table results are from a single collect instead of an average of ten collects.

Note: "Previous V&D" result refers to a result that is loaded after a the collection of a different result.

Workaround: After collecting Verification and Diagnostics results, save and/or print the reports.

Hi,

When you have a peak like below during the wavelength verification is worth repeating the test a couple of times, because with flushing is very likely the peak shape will improve. See attachment for your reference

How to change valve type on G1316A?

Once field/customer decide upgrade valve to different type, due to valve itself has no RFID tag as 1290 TCC (G1316C) or MCT (G7116X). FSE has to manually change valve type after hardware installation.

The most easy way is using Lab Advisor FSE mode.

You could enter following command via command line under instrument control.

vt 1          represent 2 position 6 port valve
vt 2          represent 2 position 10 port valve

We are always encourage FSE turn TCC power off and on after received RA 0000. It helps on valve type stay on main board.

If someone need to enter command via Chemstation, please refer to G1316-016 service note for the detail.
Hello Justin,

USP 1058 outlines general guidelines for AIQ (analytical instrument qualification) and the qualification life cycle. Details of instrument operating parameters and qualification requirements can be found in the USP general chapters for specific instrument types. The customer should have a qualification plan for the instrument that describes the intended use of the equipment and the tests required to ensure that it is operating properly.

USP 857 is a general chapter that contains specific guidelines for UV/Vis spectroscopy. Agilent's standard OQ protocols for UV/Vis meet the minimum requirements of USP 857 for most customers. Depending on the intended use of the instrument, the optional tests can be added to the EQP to create a custom EQP that meets the customer's unique needs.

The attachment ('Using ACE to meet USP General Chapter 857') explains how the protocols in ACE can be used to meet USP 857 compliance. This document, provided by Marketing and R&D, can be found on Support Portal. Feel free to share this explanation document with the customer. Before the qualification is scheduled, the customer must approve the EQP review document and/or request a custom EQP.

Training materials (see the General Compliance and UV/Vis compliance with ACE CBT courses) contain topics that explain regulatory standards, the EQP review process and Agilent's UV/Vis compliance protocols. Certification for these courses must be updated annually. The Compliance Product Support team encourages the use of existing resources, but we are here to help if you still have questions or concerns.

Please review the explanation document and EQP with your customer. If the customer still has questions or concerns about the EQP, let us know!

Q: What is the function of white ceramic plate on top of internal tray?
A: The ceramic plate on the top of internal tray is ONLY used for the G1364D Micro Fraction Collector to check the alignment of the capillary tip during initialization. Since we are using the internal tray for all G1364X Fraction Collectors this part is in, even only used by the Micro FC.

Q: Why B pump head is responsible to build pressure when doing A channel leak rate test for G1312B?
If we do the test for A channel, we were asked whether damper was included or not

If we choose no damper, then we found the pressure will be built up by solvent delivered with Channel B, instead of channel A

Once the target pressure reached, the channel A started to deliver and measure the leak rate.

If we choose include damper, then we found the pressure will be built up by solvent delivered with Channel A.

Once the target pressure reached, the channel A continued to deliver and  measure the leak rate.

Why the situation is that for “no damper”? Any benefits?

A: The reason for this is right positioning of the pistons before the test. In case of “without damper” the system is less “elastic” and it is more difficult to position the pistons in tested channel properly right after building up the pressure if it would be used for it.

Theoretically, below steps should be considered to check the problem
---Check the cables connecting the compressor and thermostat control board
---Check the cables between G7129A mainboard and thermostat control board
---Replacing the sample thermostat
---Replacing the G7129A mainboard
Unfortunately, the problem was still there after above trouble shooting.

A: Finally, we realized the compressor voltage shown in lab advisor is 12V instead of 24V which is normal. Then FSE checked the physical voltage supplied to thermostat, it turned out to be 24V. So, this is related to a signal processing issue electronically. At last, FSE changed the fusion board to resolve the issue.

Q: How to enable the G4260B to support Lan communication?
A:

---In order to enable the Lan communication of G4260B, you have to have
     a. update the FW to 32.06
     b. use latest ELSD driver 01.07(Waters provide the driver called ICS, the latest version is 3.0. Waters have to check whether ELSD driver 01.07 has been implemented in ICS 3.0 or not)

Hi All,

Every time the modules show a solid red light at the front, means there is a hardware error, so this is immediately written into the firmware file of the same module. Our "softies" in Waldbronn spent loads of time writing error codes into the firmware and we can see these errors with the diagnostic buffers and system report.

So next time you see there is an error, instead of wasting your time describing it, taking snapshots from the GUI, looking for the software logbook, etc, it is better to obtain the diagnostic buffers and system report from Lab Advisor and attach them with you problem description.

Problem description: G7167A Initialization fail with error 25235,2 ['Transport motor index missing'] caused by incorrect installation of mainboard

Detail: When powering on the G7167A, the initial process begins successfully with below steps which means the FW needed for initialization was loaded without problem
-- Blinking LED on fusion board
          --Changing status LED color
--60s evacuation with high fan speed
--Light is on in sampler housing
However, when the sample handler is just beginning to move, we got the error message mentioned above.
Investigation was done by opening the cover of electronic box. We found the mainboard was installed incorrectly. In the front of the electronic box, the mainboard was installed under the metal rim which was designed to support the mainboard. The correct way should be the opposite, the board  should be put on the top of the metal rim, otherwise, you will create many short circuits on the mainboard. See below picture

Hello,

It is now possible to establish communication through LAN instead of RS232 in all G4260B ELSD. Default IP address for the ELSD is 192.168.254.27

Requirements:

-Minimum FW 32.06
-ELSD driver A.01.07
-Boot loader version 01.01.03 or ELSD with SN higher than GB1425XXXX. In case the boot loader version is inferior to 01.01.03, please check SN ELSD-017B to upgrade the boot loader version

Below is the ESLD drivers and Software versions compatibility. The main issue is that ELSD drivers A.01.07 are not compatible with ICF drivers or Chemstation rev B, so not LAN connectivity available with these software version,. For the rest of the software platforms, please check the minimum versions.

Hello,

In the Lab Advisor version B.02.11 there is a new test for the multisampler. It is the robot handler test and it is very useful to diagnose errors during initialization. With this test we can isolate problems on the robot and we always recommend it to run it before checking the belt tension or adjusting the belt tension screw. If the test is passed, we are 100% sure the robot is not faulty, so the problem must lie somewhere else. If the test fails we recommend to submit the report and lrs files to channel assist for evaluation.
Hi,

Many times the wavelength accuracy test fails after recalibrating the FLD with glycogen.

Here are some hints:

-Do not touch the monochromators assemblies. The don't need cleaning.
-Inspect the quartz window and replace it if the unit is too old. The window can generate a "milky spot" in the center due to ageing.
-Use latest FW and Lab Advisor versions
-Wait at least 20 minutes to run the wavelength accuracy test after recalibrating the detector. The flow cell may still contain traces of glycogen, so it must be thoroughly flushed with water.
-For G1321X versions use version Lab Advisor version B.02.12. At the time of publishing this article B.02.12 is not available to the field, but there is a B version that can be distributed to service engineers. Please don't provide to customers!!

When performing the Gradient test on a QUAT pump with AIV, there have been many reports of failures at either the 95%, 25% or both for the coefficient of determination.

Initially the models identified were G1311B/C and G7111A/B.  However, there have also been a few recent reports of G1311A also failing.  The failure is most likely to occur on the G1311A if either the MCGV or complete AIV were replaced.

The SU has conducted an investigation and have made improvements to the MCGV, AIV and updated firmware.  In addition, if a failure occurs, the SU has recommended the following steps.  We suggest you follow these steps BEFORE you replace any component.

1. Issue:
Some Quaternary 1260 pumps (G1311B/C) or 1260 Infinity II pumps (G7111A/B) are not
passing the OQPV Gradient Test. The investigation of returned parts showed that the
majority is working within specifications. Please take best precautions to avoid unnecessary
replacements.
2. Symptoms:
One or both of the following symptoms may be visible.
1. Composition accuracy (step gradient part) is failing.
2. Gradient Linearity is failing with excessive bumps at 95% tracer and 5% tracer.
3. Suggested repair strategy (future changes expected):
1. Make sure the pump has firmware D.07.13 or later loaded (important for correct STROKE
value in Auto Stroke mode)
2. Check the solvent intake filters. Replace them if required (not a problem for new pumps)
3. Thoroughly flush the system
1. Solvent: IPA in all channels
2. Solvent composition: 25 % each channel
3. Stroke volume 100 μL (for flushing only, set to AUTO for the OQ)
4. Flow rate: 3 mL/min
5. Duration: 10 min
4. Re-flush the system with water/tracer (make sure no air is getting into the flow path)
5. Select the appropriate Gradient Test
1. PIV: Use the combined Gradient Test (A/B/C/D)
2. AIV: Use the Dual Gradient Test (runs A/B and C/D separately)
6. Run the Gradient Test.
4. If the Gradient Test is still not passing:
1. Separate the 1260 Infinity II stack into two stacks. Put the solvent cabinet directly on top of
the pump module.
1. Start over with step 3.3
2. Permanently replace the AIV by a PIV (requires ok from customer!)
1. Start over with step 3.3.
3. Replace the MCGV. In rare occasions this may have to be more than once. Please take best
precautions to avoid unnecessary replacements.
1. Start over with step 3.3
5. Factory test situation (May 4, 2017)
1. The pump end test in WAD production does not include the OQPV gradient test.
2. For repair part MCGVs (PN G1311-67701) there is no chromatographic test nor OQPV test
done in WAD production.
3. In some recent cases it was found that properly assembled and adjusted valves did not
perform at customer site. One potential cause are shipment damages. The cardboard box
therefore being improved. Please handle MCGVs with care!
Problem:  When performing an autotune, when report is being generated the message pops up "mass offset is too high for this mass range".  Also when scanning below 10 the same error will come up.

Cause: Normal values for the mass offset for Single quad should be ~-10 to -33.  If user is getting higher positive number something in the mass filter electronics could be defective.

Solution:  Check the DIP values using the optimize quadrupole frequency in chemstation or Mass Hunter.  Normal values should be

If values for Dip at 10 AMU is much lower the 9, the software will show the error message.

Causes for the lower value have been attributed to a defective main board but could be cause by a problem with either quad driver (side board) or mass filter (gold quad , contactgs)

After replacing main board or other components, overwrite the autotune.u with a default copy.
PN for the I-Class SM-FL On/Off Switch is 441000555.
The PN for the Class Acquity BSM Personality board is MV-W-700009786/MV-X-700009786 and is compatible with both the passive check valve and i2V versions of the BSM. The OEM part is restricted and must be installed by a Waters FSE. There is an exchange part for this PCB.
PN for the H-Class Bio Flow Restrictor is 205000547. This can be used when additional backpressure is needed. It is 40um x 14" and is inert. Can be used with the CM-A, CH-A and CM-Aux.

Q: What are the basic steps to enhance the intensity of G1321X FLD?
A: The intensity is very important for Agilent FLD, without good intensity, the accuracy test will fail, the signal to noise test will fail as well.

1. The lamp. You may replace. See attached document on how to adjust
2. The quartz window. You may clean or replace

3. The EX condenser. You may replace

4. The alignment of the light beam on the EX slit. You need to check or adjust the light beam. See attached document on how to adjust
5. The mirror. You may replace

6. Finally the EX grating.
The expected intensity profile is like below

If all above replacements can not enhance the intensity, it is not worthwhile to do further replacement, pls change the optical unit.

Hi all,

Just for clarification a brief description of the different types of T sensors:

FY19 Oct 8th

Q: How does Chemstation LC driver detect the G1330B?

A: There three scenarios.

Scenario one: the LC driver(Chemstation) already has a G1330B configured before. But one day, another G1330B with difference series number is installed and replace the original one

           >>>>>>No reconfiguration is needed, the driver does not check the series number of G1330B

Scenario two: the LC driver(Chemstation) already has a G1330B configured before. But one day, the G1330B module is disconnected with ALS due to various reasons

           >>>>>>Reconfiguration is needed, otherwise the ALS will be offline when Chemstaion is opened, with prompt message "thermostat installation changed from true to false"

Scenario three: the LC driver(Chemstation) has no G1330B configured before. But one day, a G1330B module is added into existing system.

           >>>>>>Reconfiguration is needed, otherwise the ALS will be offline when Chemstaion is opened, with prompt message "thermostat installation changed from false to true"

Error code from the front panel (External LED indicator) will provided a good idea on the issue:

0 R R 0 - 6 - X -Axis Collision Error
0 R R R - 7 - Theta-Axis Collision Error
R 0 0 0 - 8 - Z-Axis Collision Error

The way on how collision is generated will provide a very good idea of how to troubleshoot it, providing a video showing the collision will be very useful.

There are some typical parts to review evaluate for an specific Axis collision issue: FFC cable, Motor, Encoder wheel, belt, Sensor PCA and Main PCA.

1. Mechanical problem

- Verify first for any Axis  mechanical obstruction, check freely movement along all the way of mechanical parts
- Verify opto sensor conditions: dust accumulation, corrosive condition or misalignment, clean and/or re check opto alignment
- Double check on the belt condition: dry,  missing teeth or incorrect tension will cause this error
- Adjust belt tension, review service manual for details
- An Intermittent collision will suggest a mechanical issue
- Verify motor movement, if motor doesn't move, check voltage, if Voltage is  ok then change axis motor

Suggested parts for a mechanical related problem are:
- Axis Belt and/or related mechanical parts (pulleys)
- Axis motor
- Axis encoder PCB

2. Damage part / Communication problem

- Verify encoder alignment, if after encoder re alignment home position can't be find and/or opto can't be cleaned then an axis PCB is related.
- Double check on the FFC cable leads and connectors conditions, damage on lead and/or corrosive conditions will cause communication problems.
- If axis motor moves, but voltage is incorrect then an axis PCB, FFC cable or Main board problem is related.

Suggested parts for a mechanical related problem are:
- FFC cables
- Axis encoder PCB
- Main PCB

Follow instructions in  service manuals for details:

https://extranet.chem.agilent.com/sites/partners/support/Content%20Library/Agilent%20Internal%20and%20Entitled%20Partners/SPS_Service_Manual.pdf, also verify for any damage for stability on pulley mechanism.

597x CI Methane CH4 flow adjustment fails for 27/28 ratio or is very high

If 27 is higher than 28 most of the cases its an issue related to the CH4 pressure within the CI ion source.

In this case the ratio for 27/28 with a Ch4 flow of 20% was at about 0.5 and it required a CH4 flow of ~90% to correct this.

Troubleshooting:

  • CH4 pressure at the unit was around 15 psi
  • Gas quality was ok, 5.5 and filters been installed properly
  • CI transferline tip was installed
  • Last time the system was properly tuning in CI mode was 10 years ago

Solution:

  • The wrong ceramic tip was installed at the new style transferline, so the CI source was not tight enough.
